Anemoon On Fire (Anemoon Fokkinga) is al sinds haar vroege jeugd gefascineerd door fantasiedieren en diepzeedieren In haar werk speculeert ze over de invloeden van klimaatverandering op zee, van het lozen van plastic tot nucleaire rampen, en ontwikkelt ze mysterieuze nieuwe levensvormen.
Die dystopische toekomstspeculaties zie je ook terug in de kunstenaarspraktijk van Rik Laging. Ook hij interesseert zich voor sciencefiction en de boeken van de Amerikaanse fantasy- en horrorauteur H.P. Lovecraft.
Samen presenteren ze een verlaten laboratorium, waar ooit onderzoek werd gedaan naar gemuteerde en geëvolueerde diepzeevissen, maar waar jaren na een elektronische shutdown alleen nog analoge beelden en cryptische informatie te vinden is. Via digitale beeldbewerking van Rik worden de keramieken sculpturen van Anemoon tot leven gebracht in voor een green screen opgenomen video’s.

innovatielabs heeft een boost gegeven aan het idee van No Limits Art Castle om de werelden van reguliere en zogenaamde outsider kunstenaars dichter bij elkaar te brengen door ze te laten samenwerken.
No Limits Art Castle bracht designer en kunstenaar Rik Laging en kunstenaar Anemoon On Fire bij elkaar. Anemoon is op haar 15e van school gegaan, dus niet academisch geschoold maar is een self-taught artist.
Mede door deze samenwerking heeft Anemoon het vertrouwen gekregen in haar artistieke kwaliteiten en is haar werk kwalitatief verbetert.
Ondertussen heeft Anemoon On Fire Subsidie Kunstenaar Start gekregen van het MondriaanFonds, wat aangeeft dat ze succesvol de overstap naar regulier kunstenaar heeft gemaakt.

From an early age Anemoon Fokkinga has been fascinated by fantasy creatures and deep-sea life. Anemoon speculates about the influences of climate change on the ocean, like marine plastic spills and nuclear disasters, and translates these ideas into mysterious new life forms.
She shares these rather dystopic speculations about the future with Rik Laging, who is into science-fiction and the stories of HP Lovecraft.
Together, Anemoon and Rik present an abandon lab that once researched a series of mutated and evolved deep-sea creatures. However, due to an electronic shutdown only analogue images, cryptic notes and speculative lore can be found in the lab. Through Rik’s digitale image manipulation and green screen video techniques they bring Anemoon’s ceramic sculptures to life.
Artists Jesus Canuto and Thijs Jaeger have brought the Nynanthea Lucidus to life with their light installation inspired by the light communication of deep-sea fish.
innovatielabs has given a boost to the idea of No Limits Art Castle to bring the worlds of mainstream and so-called outsider artists closer together by letting them work together.
No Limits Art Castle brought together designer and artist Rik Laging and artist Anemoon On Fire. Anemoon left school at the age of 15, so she is not academically trained, but she is a self-taught artist.
Partly because of this collaboration, Anemoon has gained confidence in her artistic qualities and the quality of her work has improved.
